I went to see it with my nephews and my sister. My nephews absolutely loved it - however, my sister and I were dying through the whole movie. The hulk did not appear until over an hour into the movie. The character development was terrible - and the acting was even worse. We were laughing at what was supposed to be suspenseful or touching moments. To top it all off, the movie was over 2 hours long. I would have left if I wasn't with my nephews.

What did you do to keep yourself amused at the KH?
by be wise inwhen i was very young about 12 or 13 my brother [he's mad, not much older] sometimes used to do a cheeky magic trick during the watchtower[god, this was the most boring of them all, i think].
he used to put his hands by his side and miraculously the books on his lap would rise all by themselves [yeah, you guessed it ...morning glory], well it made me laugh my head off.
i bet people could see my shoulders bouncing up and down from the back row.

I used to time how long I could hold my breath. I got pretty good . . . as much as 2 minutes. Had to be really careful on the exhale though. I couldn't let it out really fast, or else everyone would know what I was doing . . . .hehe

Did You Support Children Getting Baptized?
by minimus inafter reading blondie's thread of the baptisms at the district convention, i couldn't help but identify with the 11 year old that said she was so happy to be baptized and has wanted to be baptized for years now.
i was 9 when i got baptized but really wanted to take the plunge at around 7. after my mother talked to the congregation servant about my desire, he said that she should not hold me back.
my daughter was 14 when she got baptized.

I agree with you Huxley. My nephew is talking about getting baptized and I'm sure I'll be asked to attend that assembly. I'm really struggling with this decision . . . I don't want my nephew to feel that I don't think he's worthy enough for me to come and support his baptism . . . but, I don't support/want to encourage this decision. It's a fine line!

I'm shocked! This is an excellent opportunity to join in the ministry for an extra day this week! Shame on you all for deciding to take a day off and spend it in recreational activity. I hope it is balanced!

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome and for your numerous responses. You've definately given me some food for thought. It's interesting to see the widely varied opinions. Still not sure what to believe. I read much of the data and statistics around the financial trades and investments made by the WTS (thanks Gerard). . . however, I would expect any major corporation to wisely invest and grow their funds/assets...I don't quite make the connection to individuals benefitting from these funds. I found the link to the bethel pictures quite interesting (thanks Garybus). I must say, I never realized how many properties they have . . . or how luxurious they are!
I think I have a better understanding of the power issue now . . .I would agree that having the kind of control they have over millions of people can be quite a head trip.
Anyway, I'm still thinking about this, and reading the responses certainly helps. Thanks again!

Can anyone help me understand the motive of the WTS? I don't think it's money . . . the GB lives at bethel in a pretty low standard of living. It's not power . . . all the books and mags are written by anonymous writers. I faded away a couple of years ago . . . and I keep coming back to this question. What is their motive to keep the charade going?
